The flooding is expected to peak on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday with the high tide. The concern at this point is that the levies are 2.5m high (above sea level), and the current water level is about 1.5m above sea level due to the onslaught from north country. The high tide will bring an additional 0.7m increase, so at 2.2m
anticipated total water level, there's not much wiggle room, and the likelihood of a breach is significant.
Personally, I would not book at a riverside property right now. Even if the property remains completely untouched by flooding, getting to/from is just too likely to be difficult, if not impossible, should there be any localized flooding at all. I'd also avoid any canal-side properties for similar reasons.
Anybody who's ever tried driving the BKK streets after what relatively minimal flooding regularly occurs with a rain that was just a little bit heavier and longer-lasting than normal, knows what a PITA it is.
Just my two satang.
