I see the bolded statement as highly unlikely as it will generate tons of ill-will to those who have been (& probably continue to be) loyal to UA (old & new). Since UA's lifetime is based strictly on UA metal flights only, that usually translates into lots of revenue towards UA's bottom line. Quite honestly, even some levels of devaluation of their benefits would probably piss them off as it's not easy to fly 1 million miles on a single carrier (I believe promotions such as DEQM don't contribute to MM status).
