With too much free time on their hands a lot of them are slowly drinking themselves to death. It's the dirty little secret that no one likes to admit---but it's there. PS and FTL are resorts, barren culturally and with little to do unless you play golf, boat ,love the beach or similar activities.
This is true. But I might add that the same holds true in other places with high concentration of gay men (e.g. SF, LA). The difference is, as you point out, few cultural activities to occupy free time outside of the bars. PS has lately started "coming of age" with more gay oriented volunteer organizations.
