There's a FFM mile bonus for new Netflix customers on AA. I don't know the details because I am an "old" customer.

There are two ways to watch movies on Netflix. They send you DVDs in the mail from a giant catalog, or you can stream video to your computer from a small subset of their giant catalog.

Netflix has different plans that determine how many DVDs you can have "out" at a time. If you are planning on watching movies while on the road, you'd probably want to sign up for the 4-at a time plan. That means you would have four Netflix disks in your carryon and could watch those four movies in your hotel room.

Then, when you get home, you'd mail all four back and get the next bunch a few days later.

I don't know if you will be able to stream movies while you are out of the country. You should check on that, first. Another tip. Look at the movies on Netflix that are available to "watch instantly". Do these types of movies appeal to you? Personally, I find little of interest in their streaming movie selection, but you may have really different tastes in movies than I do.

As an alternative, consider getting together with friends and seeing who has interesting movies that you can borrow. You probably have 10 or 20 lying around your house. Loan those to friends who are traveling and borrow others from them. That way you would be able to do it "free".
