Interesting information about the Doubletree Club.

Afterward, it seems at least some Doubletree Clubs went into downward spirals - the worst was, IMO, the Doubletree Club Miami, and the Doubletree Club Houston iirc was the one with the paean "Yours is a Very Bad Hotel" PPT prepared for it. Fortunately, both of these have been Clubbed into submission and are now mere (if bad) memories.

I have a tendency to avoid Doubletree Clubs, though I did stay at the Livermore, CA, property - all I could say to then is, "yours is a very mediocre hotel". Hmm, maybe a motto here! "Doubletree Club hotels - the epitome of mediocrity"
