I particularly appreciated the comparison between Ft. Lauderdale and Palm Springs. I was undecided (still am) but saw pluses and minuses in both.

Then I happened to run into the "Palm Springs Sex Scandal" where straight officers (apparently ALL the police force is straight) even though the gay population is estimated at 30-40% entraped a goodly number of individuals and put them up on charges that could result with them being listed as Sexual Offenders for the rest of your life. People who even wanted to take people back to the privacy of their room were encouraged by the police to "Show me the goods" and then were arrrested for indecent exposure.

If you don't believe me, this was all written up in Joe. My. God., The Advocate, The BAR, The Edge and by Dan Savage, who encouraged his readers NOT to visit Palm Springs, along with other gay sources.

I originally grew up in Buffalo with a hostile police force, and really don't have any intention of visiting or living in that environment again.

If anyone has more recent information, I would welcome it.
