in all my years of travel the only time i have ever come across this was at the le méridien ahmedabad earlier this year....

i was in town for the day & i was supposed to head back home the same evening after finishing my meeting....the meeting went into overtime & by the time i finished it was too late to make it to the airport on time for my flight....

i decided to stay the night & the cheapest online rate at the le méridien was around $150....the rate at the taj property was a little over $100....i went up to the le méridien & told them that i was getting a cheaper room at the taj but i would rather stay at a spg property....the agent got me to speak with a manager & they got the price down to $115....that was good enough for me so i took it....
