Excellent tips - I had no idea we could do something like this with AA to get international tickets in high season paying low season miles. Will definitely try this next time. I just issued an award on Delta for next year from the East coast to Hawaii... it was a veritable pain in the a$$ to book that award in LOW even though the trip dates are 10-11 months away. I had to book the first leg to OGG and the trip back from HNL. It's ok with me since I'm planning to visit 3 islands while I'm there anyway, but like I said it was a pain to find available dates for everybody in my party, I was almost giving up. Delta awards are next to useless when you have to go to interesting places... so - I second the advice of burning them as soon as possible if you know the dates and the flights are available.
