I suspect that long ago this was mostly a non-issue - pretty much the only thing I ever was remotely tempted to buy in a Courtyard was a diet coke if they had a drinks fridge near the check-in counter.

But now there are some CY's with a lobby bar on par with a typical Marriott (Seattle is an example), probably even a few that would go a step further and advertise it as an actual restaurant (I seem to recall one in Chicago, but I could be wrong)...plus even the basic suburban CY concept is adding appetizers, some light dinner options, something closer to a full bar, etc.

Therefore, I wonder if this policy will ever change to entice us to spend money at these new offerings. Seems like it would be logical to now allow us to earn points at CY. I stay in one in Plano that I've kind of grown to like, but I feel like I have to leave the hotel and drive around looking for dinner. Give me points and I probably don't leave the hotel...
