Doubletree Clubs, IME, are tangibly worse than regular Doubletrees. They're stripped-down propositions with no meeting facilities, room service or hot breakfasts - sometimes just an Au Bon Pain kiosk in the lobby - but sometimes high rates. They're like Holiday Inn Expresses, only not as up to date.

I tried for you, five posts ago. A Doubletree is a frumpier, less-well-equipped Hilton-style mid-range American hotel with a basic level of amenities, but usually lacking key assets that would make it a full Hilton. But the best you can do is an 80%-90% solution. As Hilton's brand consultants have no doubt found out (which is why they're focusing on a new logo), no brand-essence line in the world can cover both the Fess Parker Doubletree resort... and the crappy old Doubletree Club out on the Interstate with cold stale muffins for breakfast.
