1.) It might be your Frequent flyer signup package that has a SPG membership tied to it. The best way to find out is to call up SPG.
2.) Not at this moment. But the benefits of a Preferred Plus membership are similar to that of the Gold membership except that you would not receive any elite bonuses for your Starpoints.
3.) If your SPG number is indicated in your reservation, they would be able to see it. You would still have to ask for a late checkout at the property regardless of your membership level. Room upgrades are subjected to availability at the time of check-in for your entire stay.
