I'm really surprised airlines in general aren't being more vocal about this. Especially on valuable shuttle routes, the time savings of flying are quickly erroding while the costs and inconveniences are increasing.
Additionally, I read on "that other" forum about a pilot who refused to step inside the cancer can or to allow the even more invasive full pat down. From what I gathered he opted not to fly which ended in disciplinary action for him by his employer. In reading the account, it made me realize that only way this craziness will be stopped is when the airlines come in and demand an end. But the only way I see the airlines doing this is when the masses (either customers, or employee groups) refuse to use these things.
