I call foul on this story. This comes across as a story of somebody that is trying to get their 15 minutes of fame so he can boost his speaking and comedic gigs. The story has some inconsistencies in it that make me question the validity of the story.
I have no idea if that's his motivation, but you're definitely right that this is the best thing that's ever happened to his speaking career!
