Palm Springs summer weather is pretty severe. It's an adjustment to live in that weather. Likewise the winter nights get really cold down there, but winter days are perfect. Although the good thing about Palm Springs for retirees is that it is a retirement city, so the infrastrucure is set up, i.e. hospitals, senior centers senior gay support etc. There are gang problems in the Palm Springs metro area, but it's not an issue that most gay seniors would ever have to worry about.

Fort Lauderdale has a huge gay senior population. It's really spread out though, but again, a good "gay retirement" infrastructure in place. Also you can get a decent condo here for under $100k. ...., nowadays you could probably get 2. (Disclosure bought a rental property here in a retirement community for 72k a few years ago, which I thought was a bargain then, it is now valued at $27k!)
I like the idea of Puerto Vallarta and other areas that have been suggested out of the country, but from what I can tell your health insurance stops at the border. What do you do for health insurance in Mexico and other suggested area? That has to be a big consideration.

Any additional information on this topic is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
