Thanks for the advice. So if I understand everybody correct, the best way to get views of SF (on a clear day, of course) would be to be on a flight heading east (Chicago, NYC, etc.) and sitting on the left side of the plane. If I'm on a flight heading south (LAX, SAN), then the plane will make a u-turn before it gets back up to SF, so I might get a glimpse of SF from the right-hand side of the plane, but it won't be great.
