Only in certain limited circumstances is birth in Belgium sufficient to acquire Belgian citizenship. It is not, for example, generally acquired by children born in Belgium to non-Belgian-citizen parents who are short-term visitors or who have lived there for less than 5 years out of the 10 years preceding the birth.
