There are two doughnuts I really like at the bakery in St Germain Wisconsin located in Trig's. (used to be a free standing bakery years ago and the local store assumed it) A plain cake doughnut or if I'm feeling the need for a sweet topping, I'll get the cake doughnut with cream cheese frosting.

Also in Cincinnati area, there is the Hyde Park doughnut shop, where they served some delicious buttermilk doughnuts.

Krispy Kreme is terrible, far too sweet IMO.
