Renting from San Francisco - Emerald Club - where to go?

Well, looks like we're getting an emerald club membership after all ^ Sent in the form today and the lady said it should be processed within a week. No rush, as our trip is in May.

Next, before I make any reservations, I'd like to figure out how we can benefit the most from the emerald membership.

From what I've been reading, we get to the National branch, and there would be an aisle, in addition to the regular ones sorted by classes, designated as the Emerald Aisle. There, we can expect a variety of cars, including full-size, premium, suv's and minivans - but no guarantees as to what may be available at what times. We're allowed to pick anything from that aisle, as long as make a reservation for a midsize car.

Does that sound ok so far - did I get it right?

Here's the thing - we'll be renting for almost 100 days, so I really am looking for a bargain. The plan is to reserve a full-size if we have to, because that's the actual minimal car we want. Of course, if we can pay for a midsize and be sure of a full-size being available for the same price, that would be even better. Upgrading to a minivan is what I'd really consider hitting the jackpot though - I understand these are sometimes available in the EA?

Does this EA, if I figured it out right, exist in all branches in SF? or is it only at the airport? If available elsewhere, where would be the best location for us, in order to maximize our chances of finding a minivan (or maybe a premium)? When would be a good time? We can be flexible, as we'll be in SF for six days before we actually need the car and have almost all days of the week and pretty much any hour of the day.

Thanks so much in advance - I feel so fortunate to have tapped into this gem of a board!
