AAgoraku has the correct answer.

The fare code for the Travelocity fare and the fare code for AA.com were different (NE14D.. on Travelocity, VE7D.. on AA.com). "N" fares aren't conslidator fares sold to agencies that AA doesn't sell themselves; AA does sell "N" class buckets themselves. Travelocity as far as I am aware is merely a reservation system that uses only the fares provided to them by AA.

I am also wary of buying the fare on Travelocity only to find it could not be confirmed and have no recourse, have to pay more, etc. That's why I'll never, ever, buy a fare on Travelocity but instead, point to the fact that somehow, "Search by Schedule" picked the wrong buckets on the same flights on aa.com and that search by fare managed to ignore the right buckets on the same day (maybe due to input of the times of departure).

I often wish that clicking on Search by Fare, I didn't have to input times, just dates. And, had the option to search a range of dates instead of two specific ones.
