But if your Gold status appears on the BP there should be no problem : I once forgot my LH SEN card, and wasn't allowed to get into the Senator lounge but was allowed to get into the Business lounge.

Welcome to FT, to25sw! In general, LH (like most airlines) insist on seeing the actual card as the status on the boarding pass my not update once your status expires. Therefore you usually need to have your card with you at all times.
