I am at 124K MQMs, and for various reasons, have decided not pursue DM for next year, and instead want to rollover 49K miles toward 2011 status.

I called Delta, and was told I could not "refuse" DM status if I went over 125K.

I estimate I have about 15K miles of remaining travel for this year.

Is my only way to implement the strategy is to fly another carrier in cattle class? Or, could I fly Delta for the upgrade possibility and then switch the mileage credited to another Skyteam carrier if the upgrade clears? This would have been my approach when CO was part of Skyteam.

Thanks in advance for your feedback and advice.
I would seriously consider trying CO after a "status match" (you can get CO-PM from DL-PM in less than a week until Feb. 2012). See http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/conti...h-onepass.html

That would give you a decent chance at upgrades in CO/UA, as well as access to E+. In Jan. you can come back to DL or decide to stay...
