I didn't even realize the shuttle stopped running at night. The last time I had to take that shuttle to the HI Elk Grove, I had to wait an hour for it anyway.
When I attended the August Seminar at the same hotel, my arrival @ORD was after shuttle hours as well. There was an excellent post in that thread for Chicago Western Suburb Taxis.

FWIW I went with 303 Taxi and the flat rate fare to the hotel was $19. While I waited for my 303 Taxi several American Taxi's came by and I wondered if I should have gone with them instead. I was pleased with my 303 Taxi driver and ride. The driver was asking me questions like if the location was east or west of something or other trying to determine the flat fare in advance, but I had no clue.
