Okey dokey, I actually had this explained to me at my local store. If you tell the door person you are just going to the pharmacy, you won't need the card to get in. And if the pharmacy asks for your card, it's because they charge members slightly lower prices than non-members. Also, at my local store, pharmacy customers who are members may also purchase up to three non-pharmacy items along with their prescription.
