I hope UA is serious about this route, rather than just a poke in AA's eye. They have stopped and started LAX-HKG a few times due to low demand. Maybe they can make it work out with the new C, feed from CO and the relative lack of "better" competition
I'm quite sure the merger with CO has changed their calculation on routes out of LAX, especially going to Asia. It's the CO feed that will make this work, and doom AA's plans for the route.
