I too am wondering if this problem (loss of stay and points credit) crops up very often when one's rate is lowered after a successful Best Rate Guarantee claim.
If they are doing this the logical way I expect the base points earned would be appropriately lowered according to the rate actually paid, but that otherwise one would receive full stay and bonus points credits.
