For the tens of millions of dollars an aircraft costs, you'd think they could have an auto volume leveler of the type common in many car radios. i.e. sitting at gate = quiet, in the air with engines at full blast = louder. OTOH they can't seem to engineer a toilet seat in the 737 F lav that stays upright for the guys, so I'm not optimistic.
