I was one of the lucky ones to get a ‘A’ class ticket on the 3 class JFK-LAX and F on to HNL. However, tonight (thought it was cool this thread was going) I got a strange phone call from AA.com Web services. They said the made a mistake booking us into F and we would have to be put in J. After recovering from the shock and armed with my fare buckets, basis codes and booking classes (Thanks FT and AA forum) my explanation made sense to me. He said that his computer was now down and he would call me back in a few minutes, that was 3 hours ago. After hanging up I said to my wife it was almost like they were calling to see if I agreed or did not protest with them and they could make an easy change. I am going to have to watch this one, and get to the airport early (flight is in Jan.). This may be related, AA called me a couple of days ago and told me there was a 10 min. schedule change on one of the flights and I asked how changeable the ticket was, $100/change, plus fare difference, which she said was really big I (paid $1100 w/TCAB). I feel like they will honor the ticket, but I am sure they could downgrade me, if they want. When I got the first call I was pretty sure that class issue was going to come up and thought I was all set until the second call. This is a dream ticket for me and a YUP fare made it possible. Just hope it isn’t too much of a hassle.
