Yes, I was reading across the aisle from my wife and saw the whole scenario. I heard her say that the flight attendant suggested the move and then just settled in. It wasn't as much a request as a "I'm just going to do it".

At least two flight attendants checked the rows during final preps for landing; in fact, one made the person in front of me return their seat to an upright position. Both attendants looked right down the rows but did nothing. That's why I was so surprised and decided to ask the question on the boards. Was even considering writing to Alaska Airlines customer service directly.

Funny thing was that everyone did the usual stand-up when the seatbelt sign went off so the offending passenger made no progress anyway.
