Can anyone tell me whether the only way to earn PC points at IC is through stay only?

On the website it's written per stay you get 2000 points. But if i have signed up with PC promo codes, does that count too? Or does it need to be promo codes specially targetted to IC hotels?

I'm trying to figure out wether it's best to stay in Crowne Foshan or IC Foshan to get the max points.

To get 2000 points/night at Crowne i need to spend 200$ where i can get it for 1 nite at IC. Price at the moment with crowne is 170$/nite + i can get 5000 bonus points. With dining i easily get more than 2000 points/nite. So i suppose Crowne is easier to earn points right considering spending doesn't earn points at IC...
