Interesting experience on flight 86 from ANC to SEA last Thursday. Wife was asked by a passenger to move to an middle seat about 30 minutes from landing so the individual could sit on the aisle to make a tight connection. Told my wife that she was instructed to do so by several flight attendants.

Problem was, her very large carry-on backpack was at her feet (not in overheads or under a seat) thus blocking exit from seats A and B in case of an emergency for the duration of the flight. The area under the seat in front was also taken as were the overheads in the area. The flight attendants did several passes in making final preparations for landing, obviously noticed the blocking backpack several times, and yet did nothing. Isn't this a clear violation of FAA regulations and should the flight attendants have found a place for the item? Just curious.
