Tuesday morning at YOW.

The AC check-in asked the usual questions concerning who packed the bag etc. When she asked about battery powered equipment I replied yes, razor and electronic meter. Now to the part I find difficult to understand; the razor was ok as it has a non-removable re-chargable battery, however I was told to remove the battery from the meter. She did not mind that I could then drop the battery into the tool case, where it could potentially short out against other tools and create a fire hazard.

The AC Customer Solutions agent was called over to help. She suggesed that the reason was that they did not want battery operated equipment turning on accidently in flight. Ths meter has travelled with me on all flights without turning on over the past 3 years. And why was the razor ok? So the solution was that I obey their command without question or not board the flight.

Does anyone at AC think that they might be consulting with their customers to help define a more logical policy for security?
