Very quickly to add:
Just flew BFS-LHR-YYZ-IAD - surface to EWR and onto YYZ-YVR
BFS security was normal (i.e. good). Only difference, no sharp objects.
LHR security more thorough than before and list of objects you can't take onboard (which didn;t include the nailclippers that were confiscated at security). Still not bad.
YYZ less good - but asked me to turn on all the cellphone, camera & computer I had.
EWR was a joke. I went through security and none of my bags were hand searched, nothing was switched on, and I even discovered my (vital) corkscrew at the bottom of one of my bags.
What does it have to take to get these people to catch on?
