This is what's called "market forces". Don't forget that USD is at all time low, so if you want Americans visiting Thailand, you have to give them incentive to do so. I beleive that you can get nice discounted fares from Australia too... Even with stronger THB, Thailand needs visitors and needs them badly. That's why other POSs have discounts, but BKK does not.
