Way too lenient. Geld them and brand them, and don't waste any money on non-necessities like anesthesia or pain killers.
When they recover, weld an iron collar around their necks and sell them to some oil sheik in Saudi Arabia as harem guards. Ditto all male offspring. The daughters/wives can be part of the harem.
