From my experience with SQ it didn't make much difference in prices, and I always booked the entire trip here in Yen. If you're fed up with Europe, try NRT-SIN-SYD which should get you 14500 mi or 10000 PPs. The good thing with SQ is that they have many A380s that give you more room in economy class than NH.
