It's not always just UA, but it's pretty much just airlines that AA considers direct competitors. That leaves you out.

However, if you can leverage a travel agent or corporate travel coordinator, try that route. If you go directly to AA, it's (as previously posted) the Challenge. That's better than having to earn it the hard way, but not as good as a comp.
