Ooh, good to know, I didn't know making that request was an option.

Related question: I once flew a family member on an award certificate (miles redemption), and she was upgraded at the gate. I take that to mean that anyone flying on an award certificate from my account receives the same status tier benefits I do?
Upgrades are a rare treat w/ status (not legal but can happen) so the status does 'stick' to the miles.
