I checked just now the reward booking and as expected it offers the most basic villa. If we go there I would go only to a real water villa to enjoy the resort experience. No way to get water villa for points? Or beach villa for points plus cash? If I make my way down there then I want to be in a water villa.
How far are the villas from each other, by the way? Do you have a real privacy or your neighbour can smile into your face in the morning?
Hey Wadge,
You cannot get a water villa on points. I think there are 3 options, someone please correct me if I'm wrong:
1. Negotiate an upgrade before you arrive. Another user has done this. This is probably the safest way to go to ensure that you do get a water villa. Just not sure how easy it is.
2. You can try and do what I did, take a chance and try to upgrade to a water villa after you arrive. My Island Host helped me with this request.
3. Submit an eStandby upgrade request. I don't remember reading anything about anyone actually getting an eStandby request though.
The water villas are further apart than the beach villas. You do have privacy in beach villas as you can control the automatic blinds. But if you have your blinds open in the standard beach villa, there is a chance that your neighbour to either side can peer over into your room at a certain angle at the spots where you step off the little deck in the back and onto the sand. But overall I would say water villas have more privacy than beach villas. Beach villas you can slightly hear your neighbours..e.g, we had a little kid next to us and heard the child scream a few times and we heard our other neighbour playing loud music. Beach Villas are surrounded by trees so you hear birds as well. Water Villa you cannot hear any neighbours or animals. In our water villa we could just hear the wind blowing against the door and the waves. So definitely try to get a water villa...less bugs too! =)
Hope that helps!
