That's funny. I've happily corresponded with Amex via email since 2002, in NZ, Australia and Singapore.
Regarding the PIN vs signature thing, does it actually matter? I've got used to signing for everything in Asia regardless of whether the card has a PIN, and it isn't a big deal... And frankly still faster than the transaction time with a chip/PIN card.
