I almost always book the 45K FC award for domestic travel because:
1. I'd rather sit in F, and I can't upgrade a Y award ticket.
2. There should be no charge to change dates and/or times on the premium class award, so if, by chance, the flight I really wanted opened up, I could change my flight without a change fee.
Bottom line, look for a FC award.
