Thank you, but are you sure the limit is 12 hours rather than 24 hours? What if B is an overnight connection between 12 and 24 hours and since B-C is international, it is still considered a connection? May I use only 1 SWU for A-B-C?

By the way, if A-B clears but B-C not clear, how late may I request to apply SWU only to the B-C leg? Does it require the original booking class, or just Y open for the A-B leg I intend to withdraw SWU from?

One SWU can be used as long as the layover is 12 hours or less. (If it's a domestic itinerary, the limit is 4 hours.) In your example, you would need three, as a stopover, by definition, exceeds these limits.
