That's crappy. I tip for free drinks. There have been more than one occasion when I didn't have anything less than a $5 in my pocket so I may well tip for the first drink with that $5 and make sure to go back to the same bartender for one additional drink. But I wouldn't think to push my luck with a third off that same $5.
