First thing, when planning an award trip you can never say 'We'll be leaving on Thanksgiving Day' until after your flight is booked and ticketed. Getting seats on the exact day you want is oftentimes difficult.

You might tell us which Frequent Flyer Programme (FFP) you're a member of. That will help focus the advice.
