Never having to worry about forgetting certs at home. Not having to rely on APs extremely slow mailing process to get certs and then hope that Canada Post doesn't lose our beloved package! I've had to forgo available upgrades because of this slow mailing process...thankfully only once!!
Now for the Bad...
I'm not so sure that I prefer electronic certs as I've been the recipient of a few "free" upgrades due to inattentiveness of some GAs

With electronic certs this will not happen

One thing that worries me is that NO flexibility will be allowed at the gate. In any particular circumstance someone may need to be "taken care of" because of a situation. Now that the electronic certs can be tracked, giving "complimentary" upgrades will be a thing of the past.
One instance: I was in an aisle seat and due to "family reunification" I would have ended up in a middle seat. The GA decided that since there was room in the front, to give me a complimentary upgrade (i.e. no cert). In this scenario, everyone was happy.
