The electronic system of upgrades would be welcomed. In addition to the reasons already posted here, I am becoming more and more frustrated with the "aerolotto" process at the gate and would hope that this would help with that.

More often the scenario of (1) half empty J cabin showing on the seat map 24 h before the flight (2) very few certs handed in at the gate [usually enjoy my time in the MLL and can see the pile the GA has accumulated] and (3) a full J cabin by the end of boarding. Sure, there are lots of reasons for a last minute upgrade, even in the non-oversell situation (latitude flight pass, etc) but it is too nebulous for my liking.
