I like hearing many opinions on this sort of thing:

With the announcement of 2 stay credits per card (I have two cards), I'll suddenly find myself with 10 stays for the year. With the stays count double at aloft, I could conceivably get to platinum with 8 more stays for about $700 at a hotel within spitting distance of my residence.

My wife and I have a five-week trip through SE Asia planned at the end of the year, but have little to no travel plans next year. That is to say, the only value I would get from Platinum would be the value I get from this trip. Is it worth the run? We'll have a total of 20 nights at the following properties:

PA BKK (4 nights, already have a club room booked)
LM Chiang Mai (4 nights)
Sheraton Krabi (6 nights, over Xmas)
Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur (4 nights)
Laguna Resort and Spa Bali (2 nights)

Does my status take affect when my 25th stay hits, and would I get $700 worth of value over these 20 stays?
