I am currently Gold(thanks to Soft landing from Plat) but I will be downgraded to Silver next year(4000 level miles up to now, and 30% of them because of a reeboking ex LH).

If they upgrade me to Platinum it means, toghether with the Soft landing to Gold in 2012, 2 years more of lounge access,... which it would be fine.
I will not fly much with Skyteam anyway, but still I would go for the promotion.
