This has been covered in several threads. To summarize: 1) AA was (or still is) expecting AC to go under, leaving no reason to match elite levels. 2) According to AA there are no longer a "significant" number of Canadian elites, so IMHO they really don't care. 3) Canadian services are being reduced, with YYZ-LGA the latest victim, so once again our business is less important than it used to be.

Unless there is one of those last-minute "Fly xxxx miles or segments in xx days" promotions to retain status, I expect to finish the year with 44K. (Of course BUF-LAX can still be had for around $400 CAD, so there's always another mileage run. ) Finally, whether one agrees with the concept or not, they may offer the opportunity to extend status for $, but that's awfully expensive for all of the reasons listed above.
