When sixth freedom flights (permitting third-country carriers to fly passengers originating one one country not their own to another country not their own without ever going to the airline home country) were in their prime there used to be many strange flights, Now there certainly are fewer. Those of Patmcwill111 #143 and HansGolden #132 are good cases in point as are several others in the thread.

The KE flight LAX-GRU are residues of that history (I think they're the only carrier on the route at the moment though both Rg and JL were flying it), as are the numerous ones between BKK and other points. There once were PanAm flights 1 and 2 that circled the globe in opposite directions and gave numerous opportunities for odd pairings, like Delhi-Tehran. My personal oddest was BAH-PEK on Swissair, which was a DC-10 that made a few stops with 6th freedom between ZRH and PEK back in the 1970's to early 1990's. Of the weird ones my favorite oldie was Varig Los Angles-Tokyo which I took numerous times.

I'm surprised how many of the flights in this thread i have actually been on.
