The airline crew training simulators look like This Photo The newer swing up types open rather quickly so you don't want to hold onto them once you pull the handle. The older Plug Doors are not so obviouse to hold properly to open them safely so you don't hurt yourself. The handles do pull in very easily. They are 45 lbs on mainline and much lighter on RJs but in an emergency the smallest person will likely toss the door as if it's a piece of cardboard.
